Event Description

Camp will open Thursday night for those driving/flying in for the training. Training starts Friday morning at 9am sharp.

Washington area BPSA leaders are excited to host a spring Brownsea Training Camp.

Named after the very first scout camp on England's Brownsea Island, Brownsea Training Camp (BTC) is the basic leader/Rover scout training for the Baden-Powell Service Association. When you attend a BTC weekend, you will come away with important information regarding what traditional scouting is all about, how to lead a scouting program and keep youth in your charge safe. At the same time, BTC is a really fun experience in its own right, and most participants can easily pass their tenderfoot requirements and become a Rover Squire by Sunday.

We are very excited about this spring's BTC because will include content that aligns with Wood Beads (advanced leader training) requirements, and offers Otter and Timberwolf leaders a solid foundation for leading their sections.

Cost is $50 and includes all food, materials and your BTC patch upon completion.

Location not finalized but it will likely be in the Snoqualmie National Forest in an unimproved wilderness camp next to a creek, in the woods not far from Lake Kachess. Another option being explored is on Muckleshoot Tribal land outside of Enumclaw.

A note to interested scouters. This course will follow the expanded "BTC3" format that was developed in 2015 in the Western Region. It contains discreet experiential units for the Otter, Timberwolf, and Pathfinder sections and retains the proficiency acquisition structure that allows almost all participants to earn their Rover Tenderfoot by the time camp closes.
