I've been considering ordering one of the Rothco campaign hats (I take a 7 3/4), likely through Amazon.ca or an army surplus store just across the border in Buffalo.

My question is, are the Rothco brand campaign hats worth it?  I saw them on the BPSA US quartermaster store, and went looking for reviews online.  They seem to be poorly regarded by Marine DIs, but there were a number of civilian reviews that were positive.  Does anyone have experience with these hats, and would you recommend them?

I have the QM hat and wear it often.  I changed out the hat band and chin strap for something that looks nicer.  It works well.

Canadian Scouters (I believe) wear the UK style campaign hats with the dimple facing forward (as opposed to the US 45 degree style).

The Rothco hats are good, although they tend to lose their shape over time.  That's not necessarily a bad thing - a lot of us like the more informal style they take on.

I was given a Stratton campaign hat for Christmas - it's more expensive, but crisp, sharp and very official-looking if that's more your style.
