Profile Information

Website:
http://66thconfluence.org/
Tell us a little bit about yourself:
I'm 51 and live in St. Louis, Missouri, with my wife and two sons. Besides scouting, I enjoy wild & untamed rock'n'roll (garage, punk, rockabilly, surf, R&B, etc.), '50s-'70s "psychotronic" B-movies, reading, travel, the great outdoors, environmental stewardship, gardening, composting, sports (corkball, baseball & hockey), genealogy, history, satire, humor, atheism, counter-cultural weirdness, the Church of the SubGenius, and progressive causes.
What BPSA Scout Group do you belong to (if any)?
Helped form (and former GSM of) 66th Confluence scout group in St. Louis. Invested as Rover Squire in October 2012. Received as Rover Knight in June 2014. I have also served as the Timberwolf Cubmaster (Akela), Assistant Pathfinder Scoutmaster, and am currently the Rover Scout Leader (RSL) for the group.
Any previous Scouting background?
Currently a BPSA Rover Knight/RSL with the Hellbenders Rover Crew in the 66th Confluence scout group. Only previous Scouting experience was as a Webelo in BSA for two years when I was a kid (mid '70s). Also helped out with my son's Tiger & Wolf Cub den (Den 3) at Pack 214 in South St. Louis, 2010-2012.
Any specific skills or talents that you could help BPSA out with?
Social networking (specifically: Ning networks), publicity/promotion, recruiting, graphic design/production, proofreading/copy editing, etc.

Appealing to Minorities

Posted on August 27, 2014 at 10:30am 3 Comments

I believe the BPSA should make it an organizational priority to make inroads in urban areas with more of a mixed, diverse populace (African Americans, Hispanics, and other racial/ethnic minorities).

The 2010 Pew study on Millennials suggests the country is becoming more tolerant, less religious, less brand loyal, more liberal, and less tolerant of those seen as discriminatory. All organizations (churches, clubs,…

Hey Jeff!  We are really excited about being a part of BPSA.  Our GSM Mike Sussman
got our charter on Jan 2nd.  I'll re-confirm with him, but I think that's the correct date.

Hi Jeff,

Good to virtually meet you!

We did send in our charter and paid for it, but have not received any reply yet.

I have already started putting together a pretty great team here and are looking to launch the group by Q1 of 2015.

We have already purchased a web domain for a website, and will be putting together a social media campaign around it over the coming months.

I will be sure to keep in contact with you as our plan is more clear.

Hello Jeff. I filled out the form stating the intent to start a group in Tucson Az. I think that this may have been a week ago or more and I have not hear anything. Was this received, do I need to do something else? Thank you in advance for your help.
